With over 25 years of experience, Gyanendra Singh Shekhawat is a respected leader in India’s architecture and planning community. He leads IDEAS with a diverse portfolio that spans high-end residential, hospitality, commercial, healthcare, and mixed-use developments. His work is driven by a deep commitment to rehabilitating marginalized communities, preserving urban heritage, and navigating the challenges of commercialization in historic areas.
Under his leadership, IDEAS has shaped the urban landscape of Rajasthan, delivering iconic projects such as the SKY 25 residential high-rise and the award-winning Leela Palace in Jaipur. His contributions to the adaptive reuse of Sawai Man Mahal Palace, the Constitution Club of Rajasthan, and Bombay Hospital highlight the firm’s versatility and expertise across various project types and scales.
A passionate advocate for lifelong learning, Shekhawat believes in the power of education to transform the architectural field. His academic contributions, including teaching at Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) in Jaipur, have focused on vernacular architecture, urban conservation, and disaster management. His involvement in international conferences, such as the Asian Congress of Architects (ACA), further underscores his global outlook and commitment to advancing architectural discourse and practice.

After completing his Bachelor of Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University, USA, Abhikram Shekhawatjoined IDEAS Jaipur as Partner and Executive Director. His academic experience exposed him to a wide range of ideas in architecture, urban design, sustainability, and the role of design in shaping communities.
Working alongside Principal Architect Ar. Gyanendra Singh Shekhawat, he is involved in projects across the hospitality, residential, commercial, and mixed-use sectors. His approach is rooted in careful observation, contextual thinking, and a belief that good architecture should be functional, enduring, and sensitive to its surroundings.
Abhikram has a particular interest in context based design and enjoys exploring how architecture can create memorable experiences while responding thoughtfully to climate, culture, and landscape. He is also interested in how emerging technologies can support the design process and improve the way projects are conceived and delivered.
Outside of architecture, Abhikram is a passionate wildlife photographer. Spending time in forests and natural landscapes has deepened his appreciation for ecology and place, perspectives that continue to inform his understanding of the relationship between the built and natural environment.
